I will be your Named Lead Midwife for the health and wellbeing of both You and your baby. Care will start from the day you are discharged from your care in labour ie hospital or birth centre, until your baby is 4 weeks old.* 6 weeks for the Intensive Care Bundle.
Midwifery care will include infant nutrition, breastfeeding, communication and development. A very important aspect of your care will be to ensure you make a full recovery from the birth both physically and emotionally. You will have the time and space to discuss your birth experience, and any concerns or questions you may have so that you will quickly develop the confidence and make the successful transition into motherhood and enjoy this special time as a new mother and family.
I am certified NIPE trained (new-born and Infant Physical Examination Programme) . This means that I am qualified to carry out a detailed examination of your baby. This is to screen for any problems with your baby including the eyes, heart, hips and in boys the testes. Any possible or obvious problems are then referred for further tests and or treatment. All parents are offered this for their baby within the first 72hours of birth. I have conducted many of these examinations for parents both in the hospital and the home environment.
As your midwife I will be contactable by phone Monday through to Friday 8-5pm. Outside of these times will be for emergencies only.
As well as being contactable in normal working hours, for additional reassurance I will be contactable by phone for further help and advice on a 24hr basis from when you have given birth until your baby is 7 days old.
Providing antenatal, birth and postnatal services including advice to accompany your NHS care.
